Adoption Guidelines and Requirements
We strive to match each dog to the home that will best suit its unique personality and needs.
For instance, not all dogs do well with children. The ones that don't would therefore not be
placed in a home with kids. By carefully screening not only the applicants but the dogs as
well, we hope to achieve the best possible match so that both the dog and the family will
enjoy a happy future together. Before applying to adopt, please be sure that you agree to all
of the following:
-You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt
-Adoption fee is $300.00
-Bare Paws Rescue does not ship dogs. It is the adopter's responsibility to arrange to pick
the dog up
-Bare Paws Rescue covers only the Eastern half of the United States
-Dogs must always be treated with kindness, compassion and patience. Only
positive-reinforcement training shall be used.
-Dogs will not be kept crated for long periods of time
- You agree to provide all necessary veterinary care and keep the dog up-to-date on
recommended vaccinations.
-Dogs adopted through Bare Paws Rescue may never be tied out or left outside unattended.
-Electronic fences are not acceptable as the only means of containment . The failure rate of
e-fences is rather high, and many dogs have been lost after crossing the invisible barrier and
then being unwilling to cross it again to return to the yard. Electronic fences also do not
protect the dog from any stray dogs or wild animals that may be in the area
-In the event that you ever become unable to keep the dog, it MUST be returned to Bare Paws
Rescue. It shall never be brought to a shelter or otherwise given away or sold
-While we at Bare Paws Rescue do our best to evaluate each dog's temperament and
accurately describe each dog's personality, there is always a chance that dogs, like all living
creatures, may react unexpectedly in certain situations. Taking your dog to a
positive-reinforcement training course is highly recommended, both as a behavioral tool and
also as a wonderful way to bond with your new family member.
-Bare Paws Rescue does not adopt dogs to homes with unaltered pets.
-You agree that you release Bare Paws Rescue from all liability and/or future claims of any
kind. You are solely responsible for any veterinary or other bills related to the dog that you
adopt. You hold Bare Paws Rescue blameless in any and all future events related to the
adoption and ownership of the dog that you adopt
-Adopters must sign a contract acknowledging the above stipulations, as well as others
-Bare Paws Rescue reserves the right to deny any application without explanation. A home
visit is required prior to being approved to adopt.
If you do not agree to the above terms, please do not submit an application. Otherwise, we
look forward to hearing from you!
